About Chef Carl G. Conway
Chef Carl G. Conway is the Director of Training for Second Helpings, Inc. Chef Carl began his formal culinary training as an apprentice at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel Culinary Institute in Nashville, Tennessee after completing a 22 year career in the United States Army. In addition to being certified as a Culinarian by The American Culinary Federation, Chef Carl has earned degrees in Public Management and Foodservice Management from Austin Peay State University, and a degree in Language Studies from The University of Maryland.Since leaving Opryland, Chef Carl has earned a broad and varied range of experience and awards in all phases of foodservice operations, including owning and operating an award winning catering company, winning the People’s Choice Award as Best New Restaurant for The Cumberland Grille, to managing large institutional foodservice outlets, to working with celebrity chefs as the culinary supervisor for the Shop-At-Home Television Network.
Chef Carl comes to Indianapolis from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee where he was an adjunct instructor in the Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts programs.In 2005, he was named Chef of the Year by the Clarksville Chapter of the American Culinary Federation, where he formerly served as chapter President.
